#RelationshipGoals.

Even for true romantics, it can all feel a bit cliche. But you know what relationship is never cringe-worthy on the ‘gram? The relationship between you and your pup.

Here are some totally swoon-worthy ideas for taking your doggo/human relationship to the next level.

1. Go for a ride

If there’s one thing that’s consistent about dogs, it’s that they love a good car ride. There’s nothing like our four-legged friends to remind us that it’s the little things that matter. Taking your dog for a little car ride — and maybe stopping at a dog-friendly ice cream shop — is the perfect way to take bonding with your dog to a whole new level.

2. Surprise with gifts

It’s as simple as it sounds. Gifting your dog a gourmet treat or toy is a great way to show them that they’re cherished. You can also throw in celebrations for their birthday, so they feel super loved multiple times a year (particularly as they age). To be honest, there are so many reasons for you to celebrate and honor your dog! The opportunities are virtually endless. And sure, your dog sees you on a daily basis and likely knows that they’re loved, but allowing them to experience simple pleasures makes them feel extra treasured.

3. Share your bed

For some people, letting their dog sleep with them is a no-go, absolutely not, non-negotiable, NO with a capital N and O. AKA, it’s basically never going to happen. But if you’re looking to make your partnership with your dog officially #relationshipgoals, you’ve got to welcome them into your bedroom like a family member. After all, don’t they deserve some late night snuggles and extra love? This leads not only to more quality time but also a more intimate dog/person relationship.

4. Indulge in a spa day

Let’s be real. No one says no to a little pampering, and that includes our furry friends. Dogs may not be humans, but that doesn’t mean that they don’t love to be spoiled just like we do. Your doggy will be super appreciative of your generosity, and they’ll feel fabulous in the process! There’s nothing like a “pawdicure” or a nice grooming session to have them feeling all brand new!

5. Bond over a meal

Just like going out to eat with family and friends can be a wonderful bonding experience, so can dining with your dog! Of course, you’ll need to keep in mind restaurants, breweries and cafe patios that allow four-legged friends, but they’re more common than you think! A quick search online — especially courtesy of platforms like Yelp (no pun intended) — will yield local results.

6. Book a vacation

In case you were unsure, dog-friendly hotels and Airbnbs definitely do exist! With just a teeny bit of research, you can find accommodations that welcome your dog right alongside as they welcome you! There’s nothing better than experiencing a new city with your favorite companion by your side.
